Pair High Panelled Back Hall Chairs C1700/1790
Ref 216. £250.00.
Lovely to find a pair...But...
The left hand chair (as shown) is the earlier chair, the right hand one is an excellent copy made an estimated 100 years later, the only real difference is the condition.
And now to the condition of the earlier chair!
It has had numerous repairs, and has historically had bearers put to the back of the outside frames (see images below) making it VERY stable for use.
Some shrinkage to panels in both backs. All joints pegged.
Please do look carefully at all of the detailed images and ask me if you have any questions.
Some evidence of long dead historic woodworm.
Approx Sizes: 42” High; 18” Wide; 14” Deep;
18½” Seat Height.
Oak Octagonal Tripod Tilt Top Table. Ref. 183. £145.00
Georgian octagonal table. Original brass tilt mechanism. There is metalwork below the three legs where they unite to the finely turned boss, this is to add strength where historic breaks have occurred. Please see the detailed images, I have highlighted the repairs and they actually look worse on the images than seeing the table “in the flesh”.
2 feet have glides added to adjust the slight lean.
The block above the turned boss has had a thin piece of wood added as “padding” to ensure the mechanism locks tightly in place.
Beautiful colour and patina. Wax finish.
Some sign of long dead historic woodworm.
